This is completely normal, and it’s exactly why we recommend ordering your three free samples, so you can see the true colour in your own space before you decide.

It’s designed to make choosing a rug simple, with guidance on size and colour along the way.

Seeing and feeling a rug in your own home makes all the difference, so your first three samples are free. Extra samples beyond that are $4.95 each, letting you compare as many shades and textures as you need before you commit.

For larger rugs sitting under furniture, anti-slip matting usually isn’t necessary. For runners or smaller rugs, added grip can be worthwhile. Anti-slip backing is available from a range of retailers across Australia, sold by the metre.

Some light shedding is normal with a new rug, particularly with wool, as a few short fibres work their way to the surface in the early weeks. It lifts away with regular vacuuming, reduces quickly, and never affects the density, performance or lifespan of the rug. Vacuum regularly from the start, and if a single long strand stands proud, trim it level rather than pulling it.

Vacuum it often to keep it looking its best, and if something spills, blot it straight away with a clean, dry cloth rather than rubbing it in, which can spread the mark or affect the fibres underneath. For day to day marks, our EC Cleaner is made to lift stains gently while protecting the rug’s appearance over time. Every few years, a professional clean will help keep it feeling fresh.

Yes, and it’s an easy habit worth keeping. Rotating your rug every few months evens out the wear from foot traffic and the fading effect of sunlight, so no single area takes all the load. It helps the rug wear evenly and hold its appearance for longer.

Any textile will respond to prolonged direct sunlight over time. Solution dyed nylon has the colour locked right into the fibre, which makes it highly resistant to fading. Whatever the fibre, rotating the rug now and then, and softening harsh direct sun with blinds or sheers, will help keep the colour looking its best for years.

Yes, and it’s a lovely way to define a space, add texture or bring warmth to a room. On carpet, an anti-slip underlay designed for the job is worth using to stop the rug shifting and keep it sitting flat. As a rule, the flatter and firmer your carpet, the better a rug will sit over the top of it.

Because every EC Rug is made to order, we’re unable to offer returns or refunds for a change of mind. If there’s a fault or issue with your rug once it arrives, please get in touch and our team will help sort it out.

All rugs are made to order in Adelaide. Please allow two weeks for production and shipping.
